DduMSNA save the dates 2024

The Daphne du Maurier Society of North Aerica has sent out its first communication of the year, letting everyone know the programme of events for 2024.

This year, the Society's first event is on Saturday 16th March, at 1pm, and takes as its subject the Society's 2024 Study Novel – The House on the Strand.  Du Maurier expert and university lecturer at the University of Bath, Professor Gina Wisker, will present a lecture via Zoom discussing Daphne du Maurier's novel, The House on the Strand.  Following the lecture, there will be tea, and the Society's very own Samantha Mabry will discuss her new book, Clever Creatures of the Night.

It will be possible to join this event via Zoom.

On Saturday 18th May, at 1pm, Dr. Michael Shou-Yung Shum travels to Dallas to discuss this year's Short Story Study – The Blue Lenses.  This short story is Daphne du Maurier at her best and is sure to prompt much interest and discussion.

Tea will be served.

On Saturday 7th September, at 1pm, oral historian and writer Leonard Cox will lead a discussion on the use of male narrators in Daphne du Maurier's works.  Five of du Maurier's novels and many of her short stories, including some of Daphne's most successful work, are narrated by a male voice.

Tea will be served.

On Saturday 7th December, beginning at noon, the Society will be celebrating its annual Christmas in Cornwall Luncheon.  This year's guest speaker will be playwright, lecturer and Society member Dr. Kate Aspengren, who will present Rebecca: Stage & Screen.

Details about the Summer retreat in Michigan will be available in due course.
